The first difference between SideCalc and the built-in Calculator of your Communicator is the size: SideCalc takes only a small fraction of the screen area (4 possible sizes). Very useful, when one needs to make some calculations without losing sight of some important information in another application. It can be loaded, moved around the screen with the arrow keys, then sent to the background, and called back again from within any other application by a "hotkey" (Ctrl+Shift+Menu)
SideCalc can be operated in standard algebraic mode or in RPN mode. It can do standard percentage calculations and operations on one memory. It can also store an unlimited number of functions, with are called at a key press. These functions can relate to math (area, volume...) or business (VAT,...) calculations, unit conversion (temperature, currency)...
Each function is defined by a name and a formula, and can be edited by the user. The formula editor supports mutiple variables (like e.g. in the conversion of "ft+in" to "centimeter"), unlimited number of patentheses, trigonometric functions, logs,...
