Projekt
Outliner

|
Treat your P900 like a real PDA! Does it not deserve a fully fledged Outliner? Here is your daily assistant, which will help organize your life, at work and at home. Just got a new idea? Jot it down into one of your Projekt lists, or into a new list. Link it to a Contact, or to ToDo in the built-in Agenda. Attach a note to it, as long as you wish... You will come back to it later, modify it, link it to an image or to a sound, move it to another place,... and organize your life into hierarchical lists of all sorts:
- break the complexity of a big project into manageable tasks,
- prepare and monitor presentations and lectures or write meeting notes,
- prepare and check shopping lists and other structured todo lists.
|
- items can be linked to Contacts, Tasks and/or Calendar entries: new entries and links are created from within Projekt. The links are displayed as icons on the list view. Tap an icon to open the linked entry in its application, update it, see notes,... and jump back to Projekt in one jogdial action.
- entries can also be linked to documents of all sorts stored in the phone (Word or Excel files, images, sounds,...).
- import / export full lists from / to text files, or to HTML or OPML™ files. Import and export support Unicode UTF-8 encoding, so that all possible characters (e.g. Chinese) can be used in texts and notes...
- optional checkboxes can be positioned at the beginning or at the end of lines. For 'composite' items, these checkboxes become % progress bars.
|
|
|
In "Shopping" mode, a list can be managed with one hand only, using the jogdial to browse the list up and down, open and close sub-lists and check items... Optionally, the checked items can be filtered out.
The checkboxes can be replaced by value boxes, where you can enter a cost, a number of staff or a duration in minutes + seconds... Values are cumulated along branches: a list can be used to split up the costs of a project, to detail an organization chart...
|
|
|
|
In "Presentation monitor" mode, the expected duration of each item of a presentation is entered as "value" for this item (it can be entered and displayed as minutes + seconds). As the presentation goes on (press the jogdial each time an item is done), the application displays the time left for the current item, the time needed for completion of the presentation and the expected time of end. The top progress bar also indicates if you are too fast or too slow in your presentation.
After a presentation or rehearsal is run, one can review the times actually used, and modify accordingly the theorical time for each item.
|
|
Some of the many other useful functionalities of Projekt:
- activate / deactivate auto wrap of item text (up to 255 characters and unlimited number of lines per item).
- move items around a list with a toolbar of arrows and or "drag and drop" them with the pointer,
- browse the list with arrows, with the jogdial, or with the navigation bar,
- focus on one item and its descendants,
- copy / paste single items or full structures, within one list or from one list to another.
- formatting of characters (bold, underline, color) is set by level and can be set differently for each single item.
- "Find" and "Sort" commands.
- three levels of zoom and selectable fonts for lists.
|
|
Projekt supports the OPML™ format (Outline Processor Markup Language), which makes it compatible with other outliners running in different environments, like PC and Mac.
See here a list created in Projekt and sent to a PC running JOE (Java Outline Editor). The list can be modified in JOE. Formats (colors, etc...) and links to entries in Contacts, Todo... are protected by JOE and unchanged when the list is sent back to Projekt.
Lists can also be exported or " Sent as" in text and html format, and in the native format of the Projekt list files, so that they can easily be exchanged between 2 or more phones runnning Projekt.

How many times in a day do you open a calculator for a simple percentage
calculation? How many times do you need to re-do the same calculation, changing one figure only?
Too much for an ordinary calculator, and too little for a fully fledged spreadsheet... Now you can do it
the clever way on your Smartphone: open one of the 16 screens of
Finanz, enter 2, 3 or 4 data,
and let Finanz calculate the missing number, with the minimal
number of pointer strokes.
ww ww
The good news is that if you want to change one data and re-do the calculation,
you will also do it with a minimal number of strokes. And you can "reverse" any calculation,
like with the "solver" of a spreadsheet: "what should this parameter be, if I want
the result to be this instead of that, all other things being equal...?" Each screen of Finanz operates like a little spreadsheet, where
each cell can be alternatively a data entry cell and a calculated cell.
With 16 customized screens, or "models", Finanz covers most business or
finance situations: sales tax, mortgage, leasing, margin, discount, cumulated interests or growth,...
See the table of amortization of a loan, with the details of paid interests and amortized capital at each term, and
the calculation of cumulated interests and balance of capital due:
A "Percentages for Dummies" model calculates all possible percentages from any given
set of 2 numbers, and a days calculator gives the number of days between two dates. In both cases "reverse" calculation is possible):
Currency conversion: enter a number, press one of the 12 currency buttons and the amount is instantly
converted in the 11 other currencies (on most other converters you would need to select currency A first, then currency B,
before you can do anything). The set of 12 currencies can be fully customized. Exchange rates are
updated via internet connection (disclaimer) on a simple menu command.
DCF (Discounted Cash Flows) analysis: create a list of dated cash flows and calculate
Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and
Net Present Value (NPV). You can easily create fixed amount regular
cash flows (monthly, quarterly or annual) and add exceptional amounts at any date,
then modify and re-do the calculations...
Finanz features a Bond calculation model, with
calculations of Price, Yield to maturity
and Accrued interest. The number of coupon payments per year
can be selected (1, 2 or 4) and the model supports two conventions for the calculation of the number of days for
accrued interest: "actual/actual" and "30/360".
In its Functions mode, Finanz offers a set of 12 functions, which can be fully configured by the user: the name and formula of each function can be modified, so that it can
be programmed e.g. for VAT calculation, currency conversion, or any other unit
conversion (including temperature or mileage).
The formula interpreter used for functions accepts an unlimited number of parenthesis (see the "Sinus (deg)"
example below, complicated on purpose), and recognizes most scientific functions (sin, cos, log,...), so that the application could even be turned into a scientific calculator. The formula interpreter also accepts multiple variables: in the "feet - inches > cm" example below, 2 variables named "inches" and "feet" are used, while the "free formula" uses 3.
Apart of its business and finance capabilities, Finanz features all the functions
of the built-in Calculator application of the device (Copy and Paste, Memory operations..). It can be operated either in standard mode or in RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) mode. Last but not least, it has a flip closed operation mode and a paper tape mode:

MathZ is a versatile scientific calculator: each one of its
36 function buttons can be customized (label, formula and colour) to perform all the calculations you need, and you can also add your own additional two pages of 18 buttons, giving a total of 72 functions.
The formula interpreter of MathZ supports a large number of scientific functions
(log, ln, sin, cos, asin, abs, int, fact,...), an unlimited number of parenthesis and the numbers pi
and e. It also supports multiple variables, like
you would use e.g. for the conversion of feet + inches to centimeters, and free naming of variables.

The calculator can be in operated standard 'algebraic' calculation mode or in RPN
(Reverse Polish Notation) mode. Press the yellow button to display the 6 lines RPN stack and
to activate / deactivate the stack function buttons. Tap the screen again to hide the RPN stack:
|
|
|
The calculator has 10 memory positions. When the table with the memories is displayed, it is possible to store / add / subtract / recall the memories directly by tapping into the corresponding display areas on the screen. This provides
intuitive operation and full control of the use of the memories:

MathZ features a Solver module, where the user loads an equation with n variables (up to 6), and the application automatically builds up a table with one line per variable. From there the user can give values for any sub-set of 5 variables and let MathZ calculate the value of the 6th variable, which solves the equation.
In the example displayed here, the equation called Cumulated growth is written as final_value = present_value * (1+annual_growth/100)**years. MathZ isolated 4 variables and presented them as a table with 4 lines. The user entered the following values: present_value=230, annual_growth=5.5%, years=10 and asked for the calculation of final_value, which is 392.873. Then he set this value to 400 and tapped the button "annual growth" to calculate the growth rate corresponding to this final value. The result was 5.69%...
Here is another example: the size of a TV screen is usually given by its diagonal. Assume that you want to know the width of a 16:9 TV screen of a given size. Enter this equation: diagonal**2=width**2+(width*9/16)**2 (width*9/16 is the height). Now you can easily calculate width for a given diagonal, or the other way around...
MathZ stores an unlimited number of equations, which can be pasted in from any external source (received email, sms...). Each user can set up his own set of equations and turn MathZ into his own specialized calculator: engineering, medical,...

The Graph module can display the graphs of two functions simultaneously. The ranges on both axis and the position of the center can be changed either with the jogdial or by dragging the pointer on the graph area.
|
|
|
Alternatively, the Graph module can generate a curve from 2 parametric equations, as in these examples. The parametric equations for the first curve are:
- X = 8x sin(6πx)
- Y = 5x cos(6πx)
The parametric equations for the second curve are:
- X = 8 sin(4πx)
- Y = 8 cos(5πx)**2 - 4
|
|
|
|
Graph also accepts formulae with two variables x and y, with interesting results:
|
|
|
Calculations of integrals can be performed from the graph view, and an equation solver calculates the points of intersection of two functions, or the points where a fonction is equal to zero:
|
|
|

MathZ also features a Binary / Octal / Decimal / Hexadecimal number format converter with a unique user interface. Try it...
