Projekt S60 version 1.23

Version 1.23 of Projekt S60 was just released. Changes from the previous version 1.22 :

  • the problem with the Import command on some phone models (see comments) is fixed
  • the UI for S60 5th Edition phones (touch screen) has been slightly improved

Upgrade is free for registered users of previous versions of Projekt S60. However if you upgrade (including from version 1.22), you may have to un-install the previous version before installing the new one. Make sure that you write down your registration code before uninstalling (use the command Options > Tools > Registration to read your registration code), because it will be erased and you will have to re-enter it when you have installed the new version.

Yes, it’s great, but why the number of entries is limited to 1000 in a list? We have tons of megabytes and gigabytes of RAM and Flash… I have an ever growing list to take with me all the times in my phone, and it _might_ exceed this limit when I put everything that I need during years…

    Thanks:
    Tibor

You can create as many lists (of up to 1000 entries) as you wish… Having several lists may make navigation easier and faster than having all in one.

Thank you for the answer. It was obvious to use more lists, but if using them isn’t seamless, they can’t be nodes accommodating to the hierarchy, and if I can’t search through those lists for an item, can’t filter out a Category globally, then I’ve stuck with those 1000 entries theoretically. It’s OK, we can’t have the whole world, if it comes from technical limitations, even the speed, I will respect it.

Projekt is the most usefull app i’ve purchased, but i’m having some minor problems using the character keys when typing notes.
I’m using a nokia n82 & i’m having some problems with the enter icon on the character grid when i’m in notes,i can’t seem to make the enter icon to work.
    Thanks!

  • Kylom

It is true that this “Enter” character does not work from the Chr table. There are two workarounds :

    1. you can turn on the switch ‘New line’ in Notes in General settings. This will add a ‘New line’ command to the popup menu available when editing notes.

    2. you can also press the key “0″ three times.

  • lorenzo

The new line solution works best. Thanks for the very helpful & informative answer.

PROJEKT is such a useful application, it became indispensable for me from the very first moment I started to use it.
However, I would really like to see items with start/end dates from my various lists to show up in the calendar of my Nokia E71. The only way to achieve this seems AFAIK to link the item with a new ToDo-Item. Once finished or completed, I need to delete the item from both ToDo-List and Project-List. I there any smarter way/recommendation to deal with timestamped items in various lists?
Any comment would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Kylom

Thank you for your appreciation of my software.

There is no way to display Projekt entries directly in the calendar application, because the calendar application only reads entries from its own database. Hence the need to create “linked entries”.

One thing you may have overlooked : when you “undo” a link from within Projekt, you can delete the linked entry (there is even a selector in General Settings for that, with 3 options : Always delete, Never delete and Ask). Therefore I suggest that you undo the links of your Projekt entries before you delete them. This will give you an opportunity to delete the linked entries without opening the Calendar application…

i am a long user for your program, registered user version 1.1. As my phone E71 spoilt, can i know whether my copy will support blackberry bold? Nokia N97, Apple IGS?

  • Kylom

Hi Joe, version 1.1 will work on none of the mentioned phones. Version 1.23 works on the Nokia N97. If you buy a N97, I suggest that you download this version and purchase the corresponding licence.

Are there any plans for a companion PC application?
The Symbian Projekt application is a great way to have my lists always with me, but I don’t want to use my Nokia N95 8GB as my main device for entry, edition and reviewing.
    Thanks. W.

  • Kylom

    1. there is no plan for a Kylom PC application
    2. if you have simple hierarchical lists, you can export / import to text files (see the User guide) and edit these files on the PC with any text editor.
    3. for more complex lists, see this discussion on existing 3rd party PC applications.

Please invest in a Kylom PC-application!
    Many users are interested!

I use a Nokia E75 and it is great working with it while on the road but not always comfy when working on the computer and need to input via Nokia E75.

    Hello!
By my opinion main problem is that MS Office and Projekt can not sync data.
For edit phone lists on PC and vice versa I can recommend Treeline (http://www.kylom.com/2009/02/good-pc-xml-opml-editor/).
For Treeline there is only problem rich text formating.
    Kylom:
    1. It would help if Projekt could be set (by user)to keep some default text and size color in lists. (now when you import note it turn to green and font is small)
    2. another issue… I use Nokia touch and Projekt 1.23 – link to document does not work. On N95 and ver. 1.22 works fine ???

    Thank you. Jurij

  • Kylom

To Jurij : thanks for your 2 points. They will be adressed in the next version.

Just trying this. It seems Projekt cannot use a subdir to store lists in? I only offers C: E: and then only offers to input a filename. No way to browse into a subfolder.
Also: No config setting for a common subfolder. This makes it hard to keep all lists in a common subfolder, away from the rest of my data.
thirdly, no ’show all existing lists’ feature, ie I need to use a filesystem browser to find older lists that are not shown in the ‘recent lists’?

I would have expected the app to manage its own directory of lists (even if that turns out to only be a specific subfolder), allow a quick overview of what lists exists, when they were created etc to find older lists again..

I don’t see any user-forum to exchange such queries, so here I have to ask it here. If you had a forum these things could be discussed there (in more than one thread)

  • Kylom

    To mathias :

Please see the User guide. The application creates one subfolder named Projekt in the Other folder on your phone memory and on the memory card. This subfolder is where all new lists are stored. However you are free to use your favorite File manager to move the lists anywhere on your phone (which I would not recommend). With the command List > Open, you can navigate to all folders on the phone and on the memory card. Note that the command List > Recent lists hides the details on folders. It only displays the name of the drive and the name of the file : the line “C:Example” in the selector does not mean that the Example list is stored at the root level on your drive C. It only says that you have a list Example somewhere on the drive C (normally the subfolder \…\Other\Projekt\)…

  • Kylom

To mathias : I have now added a FORUM section. Thank you for the suggestion :-)
